Petitions to General Benjamin Lincoln, commander of the Massachusetts militia sent to suppress the rebellion, from the towns of Westboro (22 Jan.), Wendell (30 Jan.), and Granby (31 Jan.), declaring their opposition to the rebellion and asking him to be lenient with the insurgents to prevent bloodshed. Proceedings of the town meeting in New Braintree on 30 Jan., declaring opposition to the rebellion and appointing a committee to meet with Lincoln and Shays. ADS from Jonathan Grout to Lincoln, undated, protesting the forced entry of militia into his house during the suppression of the rebellion.
